Rams Baseball Earns CIAA Postseason Honors

Rivenbark, Wells named to 2011 All-CIAA team; Miller named to All-Rookie Team

HAMPTON, VA – A trio of Winston-Salem State Rams were honored, Tuesday, as they earned postseaon honors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Tuesday afternoon. After a great 2011 season that saw the Rams place third in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) with a 26-18 overall record with a 19-7 record in the CIAA, two of the Rams were named to the All-CIAA team while another was named to the CIAA All-Rookie team.

The tandem of junior pitcher Brice Rivenbark and freshman Scott Wells both took home All-CIAA honors after a great season of effort in the field. Freshman infielder Andrew Miller added CIAA All-Rookie team honors as well. Rivenbark led the way for the Rams with a spot on the All-CIAA first team as a pitcher. He finished the season with a 4-4 overall record with 11 appearances and 10 starts. He finished the season with a 2.89 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 62.1 innings of action. Wells was named to both the All-CIAA second team as well as the CIAA All-Rookie team as a shortstop. For season, Wells finished with a .330 batting average and 16 RBI and a home run. Defensively, Wells finished the season with a .946 fielding percentage with 33 putouts and 73 assists. Miller earned a spot on the CIAA All-Rookie team after batting .254 with 14 RBI and a home run.
