BRONCOS’ ACE PEAVEY NAMED TO ALL-CIAA TEAM Alex Podlogar FSU pitcher leads teams in wins, ERA and strikeouts FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Fayetteville State ace Olivia Peavey was named to the All-CIAA softball team for her standout pitching this season, the CIAA announced on Tuesday. Peavey (So., Siler City, NC) was one of two pitchers (Brittany Lane, Winston-Salem State) selected to the team by the league’s coaches and sports information officials. Peavey, a two-time CIAA Pitcher of the Week, leads the Lady Broncos in wins (11), ERA (4.71), complete games (14) and strikeouts (135) in 124.1 innings of work. She has helped lead Fayetteville State to second place in the Southern Division and a trip to the CIAA Tournament, which begins on Thursday in Petersburg, VA. “She is a very talented young lady,” says Fayetteville State head coach Miguel “Coach Who” Justiniano. “She has been tremendous on the mound and at the plate. If you blink, you will miss something special.” Peavey has been more than just a pitcher for the Broncos. She leads the team in batting with a .324 average and shares the team lead in home runs (3) to go with a team-high 29 RBI. She has also drawn 17 walks, second-most on the team.
