LAURINBURG, NC - The Chowan University men's basketball team fell to 1-4 on the year after dropping an 80-77 game to Saint Andrews College this evening in non-conference basketball action. The Knights held on to a narrow three point margin of victory despite the Hawks putting up 55 second half points.
 Chowan's Mark Brown posted a team-high 24 points on an 8-14 shooting performance while three other Hawks scored in double-figures. Saint Andrews improves their overall record to 3-5 after tonight's game.
Chowan struggled from the floor in the first half, putting up just 22 first half points. The Knights took a 31-22 lead into the halftime break. But Chowan opened the second half on fire, putting up 55 second half points. However the Knights were able to use their first half lead to keep the Hawks at bay in the second half. Brown sank a three pointer with :59 on the clock to knot the game at 75-75. The Knights scored a quick lay up on their ensuing possession and then forced a Chowan turn over to help ice the game. The Hawks were forced to foul over the final :30 of the game where the Knights slipped away with the three point win. Joining Brown in double figures was Charles Rhodes who scored 15 points and had five rebounds. Christian Um Kaman chipped in 10 points while Aaron Allen came off the bench to score 10 pooints and get six boards. Travis Williams scored eight points, had eight assists, and six rebounds in his first game suited up for the Hawks.  Chowan will take a break from court competition over the next nine days to prepare for the final exam period. They will hit the court again on December 16th when they travel to Barton College for a 7:00pm tipoff.
