Lane Named WSSU Student-Athlete of the Week Trevin Q. Goodwin 05/05/10 Freshman pitcher leads WSSU to 2-1 record in weekend series WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics announced that freshman pitcher Brittany Lane was named the WSSU Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 2, 2010. The freshman had three strong pitching efforts in a home weekend series against the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs last weekend. Lane, a 5’5” freshman pitcher from Virginia Beach, Virginia, pitched all 19 innings of the three games. She finished the weekend series with a 2.59 ERA and allowed just 18 hits to the Lady Bulldogs. She also added 15 strikeouts with just four walks in the three games. Lane also had a strong batting effort in the three games, going four-for-10 from the plate.
